Endless Support to Mission Aklan

“Walang Hanggan” is how Alberto D. Lina, Chairman of the Lina Group of Companies, described the support to the Surgical-Medical- Dental Mission in Ibajay, Aklan.

With a medical contingent of  73 doctors, nurses,  and  staff from  Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Abesamis Dental Clinic, other doctors practicing in the South, employees of the Lina Group of Companies,  the three-day mission on August 29-31, 2012 served  527 outpatient medical and pediatric cases, 34 major surgical cases, 43 minor surgical cases, 12 obstetric surgeries, 72 ophthalmologic cases, and 386 patients who had tooth extractions.  Laparoscopic Surgery was done on five  of the surgical cases.

Gov. Carlito Marquez, Congressman Joeben Miraflores and Mayor Lulu Miraflores together with Bert & Sylvia Lina and the doctors of the medical mission witnessed the blessing of newly renovated Philcare wards. The Lina Group of Companies sponsored the renovation of  this section of the hospital.   The male ward has been named after Guiding Light Foundation Founder, Richard Pacheco, and the female ward has been named Adela ward.

Aside from the renovation of the wards,  Dr.  Joe Barril, as representative of Asian Hospital, turned over blankets as donations to the hospital. Dr. Alberto Madrilejo, in behalf of Dr.Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center, also turned over a huge number of side tables, patients’ mobile table trays, operating table, stretchers and a lot more items for Ibajay District Hospital. These items were transported  to Ibajay, Aklan through AIR21 with the supervision of Mr. Rudy Fulo, President of Cargohaus, Inc.

Dr. Joe Barril expressed the support of the Asian Hospital Doctors in providing the best medical health care during the annual mission.  He hopes to be able to perform open heart surgeries  in the  town of Ibajay someday.

During the thanksgiving dinner held at the residence of Congressman and Mayor Miraflores, Ibajay District Hospital Chief of Hospital, Dr. Mary Jean Gelito, thanked the members of the mission for continuously holding the medical mission in  Ibajay.   The mission has also helped the members of the nearby town of Aklan.  Mayor Miraflores also  expressed her heartfelt thanks to the volunteer doctors and staff who have made this activity  their annual  mission.
